How Satan Tempts People (Surah Al-Araf)

Al-Araf - 7:16/17
He said: Now, because You have sent me astray, verily I shall lurk in ambush for them on Your Right Path.

Then I shall come upon them from before them and from behind them and from their right hands and from their left hands, and You will not find most of them beholden (unto You).



Al-Araf - 7:27
O Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you as he caused your (first) parents to go forth from the Garden and tore off from them their robe (of innocence) that he might manifest their shame to them.  Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from whence you see him not.  Indeed, We have made the devils protecting friends for those who believe not.

Allah also warns in Surah Al-Isra how satan will tempt humans by arousing desires in them for acquiring wealth and children.

"And excite any of them whom you can with your voice, and urge your horse and foot against them, and be a partner in their wealth and children, and promise them.  Satan promises them only to deceive."  (17:64)

Therefore, when we have a feeling of desire we need to fight that feeling.

Using the intelligence rather than the desires.

Yeah, true.  intelligence and will-power help greatly to think rationally and analyse our desires and subsequently to grasp the guidance of Allah ....
