Title: Seeking forgiveness at the 'eleventh hour' won't help (Surah Yunus)

Reflections on the Glorious Quraan

A person who has disbelieved in Allah Almighty all his life or has been negligent of the presence of The Almighty, and then professes belief and begs His forgiveness at the verge of death, will not be enough.

I quote as follows some of my favorite verses from the Noble Quran to confirm what I stated.  Please read carefully and always remember it.

"And We brought the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh with his hosts pursued them in rebellion and transgression, till, when the (fate of) drowning overtook him, he exclaimed: I believe that there is no deity save Him in Whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of those who surrender (unto Him). (10:90)

What! Now! When hitherto you have rebelled and been of the wrong-doers ? (10:91)

But this day We save you in your body that you may be a portent for those after you.  Indeed, most of mankind are heedless of Our portents." (10:92)

Surah Yunus

"The plot of Pharaoh ended but in ruin."  40:37  Surah Ghafir  (also known as Surah Mumin)

About Verse 10:92 people often ponder if it means the preservation of Pharoah's body physically.  That's possible.  But there could be another information as well, that others must learn a lesson from this incident .. Allah will keep the memory of this event alive in the minds of generations to come, till the Last Day.  And Allah knows best.

Excellent point to highlight.  So many people who either aren't believers or only having the title of 'believer' carry this notion that no matter what their past may have been, death will resolve everything in favor of them.  How misguided those who are on denial can be, in an attempt to comfort themselves in this fleeting world.

This is another verse of the Quran that underscores the incorrect notion of such persons.

"They indeed are losers who deny their meeting with Allah until, when the Hour comes on them suddenly, they cry: Alas for us, that we neglected it!  They bear upon their backs their burdens. Ah, evil is that which they bear!" (6:31)

Absolutely.  That last minute begging for forgiveness is futile when one is at the doorstep of death.  And I tell you, there are millions if not billions around the world who are counting on this last-minute 'bailout.'  But Divine Justice is too perfect.  It won't work.

"Forgiveness is only incumbent on Allah toward those who do evil in ignorance (and) then turn quickly (in repentance) to Allah. These are they toward whom Allah relents. Allah is ever Knower, Wise.  But forgiveness is not for those who do ill-deeds until, when death attends upon one of them, he says:  Indeed, I repent now; nor yet for those who die while they are disbelievers. For such We have prepared a painful doom."  4:17-18  An-Nissa.

Absolutely correct, sister and brother.
