Title: Are any of you using Yahoo Mail Beta?
Post by: Ruhi_Rose on December 03, 2011, 05:32:33 am
I switched over to it a week ago and am regretting it ever since.  Yahoo mail classic was much better.  One big problem is I'm not being able to delete any unwanted drafts.  Gives a message to the effect 'one or more drafts are open .. close all drafts' even though all drafts are closed.  Every new damned software turns out to be worse than the previous one.

LOL ,, I too found Beta a pain in the ass but I'm now more used to it.  I switched over almost a month ago and also experienced the same problem of not being able to delete unneeded drafts.  But then I resolved the issue.   First open the draft you wanna delete.  Then click the 'cancel' button.  It will take you back to the drafts window.  Check that draft which you cancelled, and then click the 'delete' button.  It will then be deleted.

Other than these few small problems, Beta is pretty ok and much faster than classic.

Well, I guess yes, u can go back to it but it's complicated.  I've never tried it because as I said, I'm ok with beta.  Normally Yahoo gives no options for going back to classic once you've upgraded to beta.  But I've heard you can for which u first need to disable Java.  Click "Tools"> click "Options"> click "Content" > UN-check/Disable •enable JavaScript• > click OK. Log back into Yahoo mail and now you will find the option for going back to Classic Mail.   After  you've returned to classic, then re-enable Java.  This only works in Firefox and probably Google Chrome but not in IE8.  Don't know about IE9.

The other way is by lowering your screen resolution.  This is a bit complicated and can create other unexpected problems so I'd advise not to try it.  It's done thru the control panel, then click 'appearance & personalization.'  In 'personaliztion' click 'display settings' and under 'resolution' move the slider to the resolution you want and click 'apply.'  Now when you log into yahoo mail, you find the option for returning to classic.  But I repeat, don't use this method.  In fact, carry on with beta.  Try the method i mentioned for resolving the draft deleting issue.  InshAllah it will work.  Other than this, there are no other problems in beta.

O dear!!  :(  yeah, such tampering usually increases the problems.  Don't wanna get into it and end up jumping from the frying pan to the fire.    Well, thanks sis.  I'll try what you mentioned about first cancelling the draft and then deleting it.

It really is frustrating when these online companies decide to change their layouts, for no good reason. If there was truly a good reason then it would be worth it.
Often (in the case of facebook for instance) these facelift changes are actually a Trojan horse method of them forcing you accept new privacy contracts (usually to give them more rights over you) in a sneaky way.

Peace

Yes, that's very correct.
