Title: A hadith on Shaban fasting I'm unable to understand
Post by: Ruhi_Rose on March 20, 2021, 11:07:13 pm

This forged hadith is attributed to Aisha (ra) supposedly quoting the Prophet (pbuh): “Allah Apostle used to fast till one would say that he would never stop fasting!  And he would abandon fasting till one would say that: he would never fast! I never saw Allah’s Apostle fasting for a whole month except the month of Ramadan and didn’t see him fasting in any month more than in the month of Shaban”[Bukhari]

Like I said, it's forged.  But what amazes me is the stumbling manner of this forgery.  "used to fast till one would say he would never stop fasting."    And then .... "would abandon fasting till one would say he would never fast."  What on earth is this supposed to mean?  🤔

Exactly .....

I cannot tell you how many countless such befuddled 'wait a minute' moments I had when I was reading Bukhari and other collections.

It means nothing Sis.  It's just senseless.  The forger probably had some specific lie in mind and thought it would be better to say it in a contradictory manner to have a loophole.   Allah Almighty will deal with such folks, whoever they were, and there apparently were many.

I second that through and through.
