Title: Pious family can't protect sinful relatives on Judgement Day V.66:10, At-Tahrim
Post by: N. Truth Seeker on April 04, 2021, 07:41:23 am

Once we met a family in their home for dinner.  Their dad, a very pious Muslim, introduced his carefree young son (a university student) to the guests and conversations began.  We talked about the importance of Faith and our five daily prayers.  One of the guests asked the young man if students at his uni are provided with a prayer room for their daily salat.  The son shrugged his shoulders and replied he didn't know and it made no difference to him.  The guest asked him "don't you offer your salat?"   The young guy said "no, but my father does."  The astonished guest replied "your father will not and cannot answer for you."   The transgressive son smiled wryly and had nothing to say.   This is the story I'm always reminded of when I read Verse 66:10.   Noah and Lut were two Prophets (peace be on them) and very obedient slaves of  Allah The Almighty.  Unfortunately both their wives were disobedient to the commands of Allah, and therefore both of them had to pay for their transgressions.   Their husbands, though they were the chosen slaves of Allah, couldn't help them.

"Allah cites an example for those who disbelieve: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot, who were under two of Our righteous slaves yet betrayed them so that they (the husbands) availed them naught against Allah and it was said (unto them): Enter the Fire along with those who enter."   66:10  At-Tahrim.

Verse 66:10 condemns both these women to Hellfire.  In other words, Allah has confirmed that they will be in Hellfire.

Altogether, there are five people who have specifically been mentioned in the Noble Quran and confirmed as people of Hellfire.  These are the wives of Prophets Noah and Lut (V.66:10 At-Tahrim), Pharaoh (V.11:97-98 Hud) and Abu Lahab and his wife (Vs.111:3-5  Al-Massad).

"but they did follow the command of Pharaoh, and the command of Pharaoh was no right guide. He will go before his people on the Day of Resurrection and will lead them to the Fire for watering-place."  (11:97-98)

In fact, the entire nation of Pharaoh who followed him will meet the same fate - Hellfire - confirmed in the Noble Quran.

"The Fire; they are exposed to it morning and evening; and on the day when the Hour uprises (it is said): Cause Pharaoh's folk to enter the most awful doom."  40:46.   Al-Momin.

"He will be plunged in blazing Fire, And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood Will have upon her neck a halter of palm-fibre."   111:3-5  Al-Massad.

Therefore, remember folks ....  no matter how protective you may feel in this dunya with your loving family around you - and your family may try to downplay your sins before others - there will be no one to protect you from Allah on the Day of Judgement and no matter how pious your loving family is, their piety will have no bearing on your sins as each one of us will have to answer for ourselves.

Subhan'Allah, agree 110% !!     And unfortunately it's not a rare scenario.   I've watched many parents who, instead of trying to save their children from the doom on the Day of Judgement, show them off as great kids.  They forget that Allah knows the truth, and that  their partisanship will not avail their kids on the Day when the account is cast.

Excellent reminder.     The problem is that nowadays a lot of parents are actually afraid of their young adult children.  Since family values have changed tremendously and adult children have become so independent that the poor elderly parents feel they are no longer recognized as the patriarch or matriarch of their families and their advise (no matter how correct and sensible) carries no weight.   Not just that, but what elderly parents fear most is that their advise and suggestions can be misunderstood as "interference" and their married children who live independently may get more distant or disappear.   This is mostly true among Muslim families who have immigrated to the West.   Sounds really down-hearted but it happens more commonly than it should  😟

"He who grows (in goodness), grows only for himself, (he cannot by his merit redeem others). Unto Allah is the journeying."     35:18   Noble Qur'an.

So, so true.    Love this Verse!
