Title: Earth's gravitational force (Surah An-Naml) Post by: Zainab_M on August 23, 2007, 02:17:47 am BismEm Reflections on the Quraan "Is not He (best) Who made the earth a fixed abode, and placed rivers in the folds thereof, and placed firm hills therein, ...." (27:61) "And of His signs is this: The heavens and the earth stand fast by His command, ..." (30:25) "Indeed! Allah grasps the heavens and the earth that they deviate not, and if they were to deviate there is not one that could grasp them after Him. Indeed! He is ever Clement, Forgiving." (35:41) All of the above verses refer to the gratitational force of the earth as a body. Verse 27:61 can carry a double meaning. "fixed abode" in the astronomical sense would mean something that's kept in its place. The other meaning that the term "fixed abode" can have is a fixed habitat i.e. the earth being the only planet made suitable for life .. the kind of life found on this earth with its basic essential requirements (viz water and oxygen). Verse 30:25 and 35:41 clearly refer to the gravity of the earth in relation to other heavenly bodies. The final explanation of every verse of the Noble Quraan is upto the Almighty Allah. |
