 BismEm

It has been a common practice since recorded history of the efforts of atheists, agnostics, deviants and idolaters who have tried their best to influence and misguide the believers from the path of Allah's Message.  This aspect should be easily grasped by everyone because the problem is just as widespread at present as it was earlier.  We have all seen how hard many "moderates," atheists and polytheists try in order to persuade the Muslims to change or to "re-interpret the Glorious Quran.  Those changes and re-interpretations which they have in mind are the type that suit their interest, and therefore the goal is to sidetrack the original Message of Allah.  A clear example of this guile is the carefully constructed hypocrisy of Islamophobe, Irshad Manji, during her 'waterloo' debate with Sister Dalia Mojahed.

It's interesting to note that the Prophet (pbuh) faced exactly the same problems to a still greater extent.  Numerous of those influential Qureshites, the elites of Medinah like Abdullah bin Ubbey and the Jewish tribes of Arabia, all tried their best of distract the Prophet (pbuh) with various incentives to follow their teachings and desires instead of the Noble Quran.  Their anger and hatred towards the Prophet was only because the Prophet was firmly grounded in the Faith as instructed to him in the Quran.  To make them happy, all one needed to do was to follow their desires.  But the Prophet's total devotion and commitment to Allah made NO concessions at all for those non-Muslims because of which the Prophet had to suffer immense hardships and anxiety.  This atmosphere that prevailed in the Prophet's society during his time has been wonderfully elucidated in the following verse, and it's absolutely true about many zealous non-Muslims and deviant 'Muslims' uptil today.  Unfortunately it seems that this  arrogant and rebellious human trend will remain in the hearts and minds of many till the Day of Judgment, when the Doom from Allah will ultimately humble them.

"And they indeed strove hard to beguile thee (Muhammad) away from that wherewith We have inspired thee, that thou shouldst invent other than it against Us; and then would they have accepted thee as a friend."  (17:73)  Surah Bani Israel
