Wa'salam.  After sunset when the sundial didn't work, the Egyptians realized that this system of telling time wasn't sustainable to reflect time until the end of each day.  So they implemented the repetition of another 12 hours, joining midnight and early morning with a difference of one minute.  It didn't occur to them to wait for the solar signal ushering dawn and early morning.  This was their big mistake on account of  which the world is presently stuck with the mix-up of late night and early morning.  Our jurists never thought of it either.   The Quranic concept has corrected it.
