As-salamu 'alaykum wa rah-matul lah brothers and sisters.
I would like to commend this website for the message at the top of every page "NO SUNNI, NO SHIIA Website. All Muslims are just 'MUSLIMS.' One Allah, One Quran and one Ummah.".
Growing as a kid, I never had great faith in Islam, I just knew I was Muslim because my family told me so.
I was sent to a Masjid on Saturdays to learn to read the Quran, but looking back I now know that it didn't help me so much because I was being taught how to recognize arabic characters and the sounds they made, not learning the actual meaning of the Quran.
My oldest brother kept pushing the idea that I should be proud of who I am because I am an Afghan (everyone boosts their own country of origin
) and Muslim, but I actually knew very little of Islam, it's laws and the reasons behind these laws.
Over about 10 years (I am 20 now) I would do research on the internet regarding Islam; I would search up questions and contradictions that I had as well as questions others would ask me and I was unable to answer. My greatest find was Dr. Zakir Naik (I'm sure many of you are familiar with him). It was from him that I learned that Islam should not be divided into different sects, and it made sense, you were either Muslim or not. You either believe in Allah and the day of judgement or you don't.
In time I came to fully accept that the Quran is absolutely perfect without any faults; with this I was able to secure my belief in Allah.
I came to know this website when doing a search on google "can hadiths be trusted" and found an answer that was almost equal to my own thoughts, if not better explained
http://muslimvilla.smfforfree.com/index.php?topic=2727.0.
I could not have agreed more.
What I have seen so far from this website is more than enough to make me want to be a member.
I hope you guys enjoyed my into and I will hopefully be speaking with all of you again soon
