Reflections on the Noble Quraan

Salaams and peace folks! 

I know this is difficult.  When someone antagonizes you, it's often hard to keep your cool.  Sometimes it's your anger and irritation, and sometimes your ego that prompts you to lash out with similar harshness as the one who lashed out at you.  Yes .. provocateurs can be difficult and unpleasant to handle.  Their motive is often to tease.  However, this doesn't exempt us from our responsibility of responding with grace.  Two aspects might help you to achieve this grace .. (1) first try to discern if the other person is simply trying to tease or is genuinely expressing their opinion for getting answers (2) if they are trying to tease, getting teased will only make them feel more triumphant.  Thus, whether it's the latter or the former, either respond gracefully with wisdom or simply excuse yourself and stay away. 


"The (faithful) slaves of the Beneficent are they who walk upon the earth modestly, and when the foolish ones address them answer: Peace;"  (25:63)

"And those who will not witness vanity, but when they pass near senseless play, pass by with dignity."
(25:72)

"And when they hear vanity they withdraw from it and say: Unto us our works and unto you your works. Peace be unto you! We desire not the ignorant."  (28:55)

"And incline not to the disbelievers and the hypocrites. Disregard their noxious talk, and put thy trust in Allah. Allah is sufficient as Trustee."  (33:48)
