With the month of Shaban moving ahead and only 11 or 12 months left for the blessed month of Ramadan to begin, those circles of our storytellers are really getting busy.   They are rummaging through the choicest of forged absurdities tucked inside their drawers and cabinets, and utilizing them as topics of discussion before their audience.   I wish so much they realized better and gave up this habit.

A sister who sends circular emails to her group of friends (me included) was raving about the false hadith that claims "The smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk.

As if the Prophet (pbuh) would ever say such a thing?  No way.

Well, if you get the bad breath of someone who is fasting, be tolerant and don't say anything to hurt them.  That's as far as it goes.  The Prophet (pbuh) never said anything about comparing it with musk or any other fragrance.  Any one who has bad breath during fasting, and some individuals may, it's natural and nothing to fret about.  But also no need to compare it with perfume.  Instead, try to handle it with frequent mouth washes and tongue cleaning.  That would be far better and would help greatly.   Rinsing your mouth or gargling while fasting is certainly permissible.  But please don't promote such falsehood and that too by forging the name of the Prophet.

After reading that sister's email, I began to wonder who narrated this falsehood.  Not at all to my surprise, I found it was narrated by none else by the notorious falsifier, Abu Huraira.   For your information, the particulars of this hadith are Sahih al-Bukhari 1894, book 30, Hadith 4  vol. 3, book 31, Hadith 118.

Please, please folks.   Stop this practice of falsification using the name of our beloved Prophet (pbuh).

To learn everything necessary about fasting, read The Noble Quran on Fasting.

😅

Abu Huraira's forgeries are comically absurd.

And another Hadith which goes about in the month of Shaban by hadithists claims that Allah Almighty says fasting is for Him.  Well, of course we fast for the sake of Allah Almighty, which means we fast for the love of Allah.  However, Allah does not need our fasting nor anything from us, because HE is totally independent of us.  We fast and we worship Him and love Him for the benefit of our own soul.  This can only be done by a person with a profound conscience who has grasped His guidance.

This hadith has more than one version in slightly different wordings.   It's definitely a forgery for the simple reason that the Words of Allah Almighty are only in the Quran, not outside of it.   Also, what I find very offensive about this forged hadith is that it makes itself sound as though Allah needs our fasting.  Astaghfar'Allah !!

Very correctly put brother.    One of the versions of that hadith you referred to is a continuation of the one I mentioned.   Big time fake narration.

Take a look at this .. how people get misled by false ahadith.   This one is a typical example.  Some stupid guy asked this question at Quora, and the one who answered it, instead of telling him that it's perfectly okay to use a toothbrush and toothpaste while fasting, quotes this nonsensical hadith which constructs a lie about Allah Almighty and constructs a lie about the final messenger (pbuh)
