How could Yaqob (Jacob) have any connections with the Hebrews of Egypt?
Many of the writings in the post in connection to the quoted thought, seem to strongly rebuke any form of relations between the earlier prophets i.e. Abraham a.s., Yaqub a.s., Yusuf a.s. to the Israelites in Egypt.
This is highly mistaken in my view because Allah state in the Quran
And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac) and Ya'qub (Jacob), each of them We guided, and before him, We guided Nuh (Noah), and among his progeny Dawud (David), Sulaiman (Solomon), Ayub (Job), Yusuf (Joseph), Musa (Moses), and Harun (Aaron). Thus do We reward the gooddoers.
Surah (Chapter) Al-An’am (The Cattle) The Qur-an 6:84
Musa a.s. and Harun a.s. are definitely Israelites as documented heavily in the Quran. The above verse confirms that both were descendants of Ibrahim a.s. as was Yusuf a.s., Yaqub a.s. and Ishaq a.s.
So the Israelites in Egypt were not simply indigenous Egyptians of lower caste but were descendants of Ibrahim a.s. who was a Semite from Mesopotamia. Perhaps their distinct racial identity made it easy for the Egyptian government to dehumanize and oppress them, just like what is happening in Burma today with the Rohingya.
