 BismEm

"Muhammad is but a messenger, messengers (the like of whom) have passed away before him.  Will it be that, when he dies or is slain, you will turn back on your heels?  He who turns back on his heels does no hurt to Allah, and Allah will reward the thankful."  3:144 Al-Imran.

This is a very powerful Verse.   I take its commentary that was penned by Muhammad Pickthall.

Quote

On the morning when the Prophet (pbuh) passed away, Abu Bakr Siddiq came into the mosque at al-Medinah and found the people all distracted, and Omar bin Khattab telling them that it was a sin to say that he was dead.  Abu Bakr went and ascertained the truth, and coming back into the mosque, cried:  "Indeed!  As for him who worshipped Muhammad, Muhammad is dead, but as for him who worshipped Allah, Allah is alive and dies NOT."   Then Abu Bakr recited Verse 3:144 and it was as if the people had not known till then that such a Verse had been revealed.

Indeed a very powerful Verse.    And I have this tafsir in my copy of the Quran.   Truly inspires one to love the truth.   Alhumdulilah.

Many thanks for the posting, brother.
