In North America the blessed month of Ramadan began on April 13, 2021.  Based on that May 8th was the night of 26th and 27th of Ramadan.

Telling you again, please do not tamper with default html codes of quotes.  Kindly let it come with name of author, date and time of the post.   We need it for simplification purposes of our info & record.  Also please do not type anything in the quoted contents window.  Not even the name of the person quoting.  Let that come through the html setting.   Thank you.

I was completely unaware that each post  had an insert quote button for easy and efficient referencing. I used the text-box button instead, hence the messy referencing. My apologies.

Sister, is the 26th or 27th night based on any particular verse of the Quran ? My understanding was the night of power is part of the unseen hence the information from the original quoted text took me by surprise .

No problem, please just remember in future.   What Sister Ruhi meant was  when someone quotes someone else from one of the existing posts within the forum, we prefer to have the name, date and time.  In case any further references are required, these facts might help to lessen confusion on our side.   It will also make it easier for you not going through the hassle of deleting the html codes, which isn't supposed to be done.

If you click on that link of Leilatul Qadr post and go to page 1 which shows the earlier posts of this thread, you will get all the information.   Precisely speaking, it's not based on the Quran.  Allah Almighty only says that the Revelation of the Noble Quran began in the month of Ramadan.   Allah does not specify the day.  But hadith traditionalists claim the Quran began being revealed during one of the last 10 days of Ramadan.  They also say it was on one of odd nights of Ramadan which would be either 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th or 29th.   But this concept is not endorsed by the Quran at all.  It's totally from the hadith.   If you read the earlier pages of that link, it will be much clearer.   Do feel free to ask if you have any questions on the contents there.

Yes, in fact I believe the unknown- able property of the night of power was highly stressed upon in early Islamic education, atleast where I went to school. The teachers gave various possible reasoning for the date being a secret, one of which was to test our eagerness and sincerity in pursuing Allah's blessing during the holy month. Allah knows best.

The above information however seem to be quite certain to be point it made me reevaluate my understanding of this topic. Please advise if the above is merely a well-intentioned guesswork or if there are legitimate reasoning behind it that can be reconciled with the Quran.

Eid mubarak and pray every sitemember, admins and fellow guests get to spend it with loved ones and cherished family members under blessing of Allah. Ameen.

I would say a "well intentioned guesswork" ..... it has to be.  No one, except Allah, knows which day of Ramadan is Leilatul Qadr.   In fact, in the virtual Leilatul Qadr program on Saturday night, while making du'a they mentioned that "we don't know if this is the day but we do know it's on some night of the last 10 days."  Actually it's on any one night of the entire 30 days of Ramadan.  The objective is that we do pray extra nawafil on all 30 days and also pick one day to pray even more.  It's like dedicating that particular night of Ramadan to the Night of Qadr, the actual date of which in Ramadan is only known to Allah (Subhanu wa'Tala).

Eid mubarak and pray every sitemember, admins and fellow guests get to spend it with loved ones and cherished family members under blessing of Allah. Ameen.

Ameen.  Big thanks brother.   Eid Mubarak to you, your family and your loved ones too from us.
