As-salamu alaykum.

I hope everyone is looking forward to beginning fasting - wherever you are in the world! Inshallah, another prosperous year for all and may the Almighty Allah accept our fasting.

I just have a question about the timing of Laylat al-Qadr. I'm aware the Qur'an never mentions which date and the hadith assumes it is the odd nights of the last 10 days, etc. But, for the sake of mutuality, I will accept the 27th night. My question - I'm sorry for my stupidity - do we stay up on the night of the 28th April going into the following day or is it we stay up for the 27th April going into the 28th? I just want to get the timing right, I'd be very grateful for your help and clarity.
Thank you very much for all your insight on the forum by the way!

Walaikum Salaam.  Your question is sensible, not stupid.  Actually our jurists have themselves overlooked the Quranic perception of the start of every new day and mixed it up with the secular perception of a new day starting after midnight.  You will find the answer to your query in our post When does a new day start as per the Quran?   I quote an excerpt from there:  "Therefore, since the 27th day of Ramadan officially declared as Leilatur Qadr begins on the 27th, its night should also be after sunset of the same day until Fajr of the 28th."   If you read the full post, you will understand the point Insh'Allah.

Walaykum Salam.

I just have a question about the timing of Laylat al-Qadr.   ..... do we stay up on the night of the 28th April going into the following day or is it we stay up for the 27th April going into the 28th?

We need to stay up on the night of the 27th going into the 28th.    For more specific details, Sister Heba has added some more very informative brief contents on this topic further down the same thread as to why we need to observe the night of 27th going into the 28th and not the discrepant concept of 12.01 a.m. as start of the next day.  You can read it here.
