Salam Alaykom, peace.
“devils of humankind and jinn” refer to the unrighteous among humans and jinn.
In V.6:113 The Almighty tells the Prophet (pbuh) that whenever Allah sends a messenger, all evil and satanic powers gather together to make the messenger’s mission a failure. They do this through attractive temptations, deceit and schemes to incite the minds of other humans. Their purpose is to instigate the people to reject the Truth and remain on the path of falsehood. In V.6:129 Allah confirms that on the Day of Judgement both humankind and jinn will acknowledge their cooperation in carrying out the evil they did.
Messengers were not sent only to guide humans but to guide both humans and jinn.
"O company of jinn and mankind, did there not come to you messengers from among you, relating to you My verses and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?"Like humans, jinn can be virtuous or misguided.
“And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules.” 72:11.Jinn are conscious living beings created of smokeless fire. The ignorant people commonly refer to jinn as “ghosts” or “spirits” or “ghouls” etc. Those jinn that invisibly lure and mislead humans through enticements, temptations and desires are the bad ones. For instance, they may delude humans into thinking they are aliens or the spirits of people who have passed away.
In terms of their intellectual abilities, they are likely inferior to humans. Please check our post Humans most superior of all species
Humans most superior of all species. But it is not possible to assert which of the two are higher in piety – humans or jinn. In terms of righteousness, it depends on the individual conduct of each human and jinn as there are righteous and unrighteous ones among both.
Language enables humans to communicate with one another. It establishes human interaction and makes the human mind suggestible. Devils among the jinn (or the bad, misguided jinn) and humans are both conscious of this aspect of suggestibility. The evil jinn exploit by whispering or inspiring (that is, invisibly motivating or inclining) the human soul, so that they are tempted to desire or do what is wrong and tempted not to desire or do what is right. What’s important to know is that whatever we decide is our responsibility for which we will be answerable to The Almighty on the Day of Judgement. This is because The Almighty has bestowed on humankind and jinn the ability to make decisions and choose their path of conduct, and has granted them a conscience. Whether or not they make their conscience grow or leave it stunted is their decision. Conscience left to itself can deviate any time.
“Indeed, the soul is a persistent enjoiner of evil,” 12:53. For the conscience to stay on the right path, it must be supported by the rules of The Almighty. It is very important to remember that for every wrong move we will be answerable to The Almighty. While there is always hope for acquiring HIS forgiveness in the Hereafter, it is not guaranteed to anyone.
