Even in the rubble, when it's time for salah one can always find something to use as prayer mat and turn to Allah, The Greatest, The Highest.

I just hope the governments of Turkiye and Syria begin to focus on more earthquake resistant homes despite the higher cost.

Where exactly in Turkiye is Hatay?   During the height of the war in Syria, government supporters were saying Hatay used to be part of Syria.

Hatay is the southernmost province of Turkiye geographically close to Syria.  In 1924 when the Ottoman government was forcibly removed by the foreign agents of Kemalist movement, Hatay was apportioned to Syria, a French protectorate at that time.  From 1924 (or 1925) until 1938 Hatay was more or less an autonomous region.  In 1938 they held a referendum according to which majority of Hatay residents opted to join Turkiye.
