August 01, 2022, 08:48:12 pm Ruhi_Rose: As-Salam Alaykum MV guests. Just a reminder how time flies. We're already in the Islamic new year of 1444 month of Muharram, a very tragic time of our history. May The Almighty grant Hussein bin Ali and his comrades the best spot in Paradise for their unflinching courage to uphold the values of the Final Message, The Noble Quran.  Please read our post Ashura - who was Hussein? June 30, 2022, 05:37:22 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Salaam all.  Today is 1st Dhul Hijja 1443 (corresponding to June 30, 2022).  Day of Arafah will be on 9th Dhul Hijja (July 8th) and Eid-al-Adha on 10th Dhul Hijja (July 9th). Fasting on the Day of Arafah is not obligatory, however it's a good day to observe a nafl fast for those healthy enough to do so.  Insh'Allah.

First question, angels have wings and if anyone sees an angel they will instantly know it's an angel.  Can angels change their form to look like humans?

Second question, thanks a lot for the Ottoman article and the links with it.  I read everything with great interest.  http://muslimvilla.smfforfree.com/index.php?topic=5365.0
In this article you said Ottomans were the longest ruling empire.  But wasn't the Muslims in Spain the longest 780 years compared to 620 years of Ottomans?

As-Salam Alaykom.  Yes, angels can change their form if Allah Almighty wills on any occasion.  The Noble Quran confirms this point.  Reference Surah Maryam V.19:17 quoted as follows:

"And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man."  19:17.

Reference is to Virgin Maryam, mother of Prophet Essa (peace on them both).  When she wanted to be alone and was sitting in a quiet room facing east, Allah Almighty sent an angel to inform her about the miracle birth of Prophet Essa.  This angel appeared in the form of any other man.

Your second question, thank you very much for appreciating the write-up on the end of the Ottoman Empire and the last four Ottoman princesses.  Yes, you are right the Muslims ruled Al-Andalusia for 780 years (711-1492), longest rule in history.  That was a total of 4 Muslim dynasties that ruled Al-Andalusia.  Concerning the Ottomans, it was the single family or dyansty of Osman Ghazi that ruled for 625 years.  Thus, as far as a single dynasty rule is concerned, Osmanli was the longest in world history.
