August 01, 2022, 08:48:12 pm Ruhi_Rose: As-Salam Alaykum MV guests. Just a reminder how time flies. We're already in the Islamic new year of 1444 month of Muharram, a very tragic time of our history. May The Almighty grant Hussein bin Ali and his comrades the best spot in Paradise for their unflinching courage to uphold the values of the Final Message, The Noble Quran.  Please read our post Ashura - who was Hussein? Salams everyone.  If someone is treated unjustly, inflicted with abuse as can be said, and that person speaks up loud, many of our Muslims teachers equate this reaction with rebellion towards God Almighty.  What is your opinion?

Walaykum As-Salam.

No, no.  Not at all.   It does not reflect any rebellion towards Allah Almighty.  Quite the opposite. The Almighty has given us the entitlement to speak up if we have been treated unjustly.  The Noble Quran upholds the concept and act of justice as a very important value without which no society nor individual can prosper for long and they will certainly have a very difficult time in the Hereafter.

"And whoso defends himself after he has suffered wrong - for such, there is no way (of blame) against them."  42:41 Ash-Shura.

"Allah loves not the utterance of harsh speech save by one who has been wronged. Allah is ever Hearer, Knower."  4:148  An-Nissa.

As you can assess from the above Verses, that's how important self defense is in accordance with Quranic principles.  This is a part and parcel of the concept of justice.  If a victim of abuse is forced to stay silent and keep the injustice or tyranny inflicted upon them bottled up within themselves, it far deepens the abuse and the act of injustice.  The Quran does not uphold pacifism because pacifism is a lopsided notion that goes in favor of the perpetrator (giving them a free hand to carry out abuse) by shutting the mouth of the victim.

The only thing one needs to be careful about is the method or type of one's reaction to the misfortune that strikes them.  If a person becomes a target of misfortune or injustice, and they start misinterpreting this as lack of help from Allah Almighty or unfair treatment by Allah, then such an attitude does certainly amount to rebellion against Allah .. an approach that would surely be an act of ingratitude, misguidance and ignorance that are very annoying to Allah Almighty.  We need to be cool, perceptive and rational to read life. Our hard times can be caused on the basis of several reasons - our own oversights, trials and tribulations of this world or injustice caused by the unjust.  All these aspects constitute the purpose of life in the temporary world and every such issue will be sorted out eventually, if not in this world then in the permanent world definitely.

"Yet everything will come to a decision."  54:3 Al-Qamar.

Therefore, speaking out against abuse and demanding justice is our entitlement, not rebellion against Allah Almighty neither is it lack of sabr.  But expressing anger at The Almighty for our hardships is rebellion for sure with serious consequences in the Hereafter.
