August 01, 2022, 08:48:12 pm Ruhi_Rose: As-Salam Alaykum MV guests. Just a reminder how time flies. We're already in the Islamic new year of 1444 month of Muharram, a very tragic time of our history. May The Almighty grant Hussein bin Ali and his comrades the best spot in Paradise for their unflinching courage to uphold the values of the Final Message, The Noble Quran.  Please read our post Ashura - who was Hussein? Salam Aleykum.  Is there a word called Sidrat-el-Muntaha in the Quran?   If so, what does it mean or signify?

Walaykum As-Salam.  Yes this word (sidrat / sidrin) is certainly stated in the Noble Quran.  It is mentioned in three Verses as follows:

"By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary (sid'rati al-muntahā),"  (53:14)  Surah An-Najm.

"and here and there a lote-tree (sid'rin)."  (34:16)  Surah Saba.

"[They will be] among thornless lote trees (sid'rin makhḍūdin)"   (56:28)  Al-Waqiah.

Sidrat comes from the term Sidr, referring to Sidr tree (in English, cedar tree or lote tree).

In V.53:14 the reference is to the Prophet's (pbuh) night journey of Isra and Mairaj.  The Noble Quran mentions Sidrat al-Muntaha or Sidr tree (lote tree) that marks the utmost boundary in the seventh heaven, which no one can pass as per the will of Allah.   Please check this post on Isra and Mairaj to get complete information.

In V.34:16 location of the lote tree was in the land of Saba (modern-day Yemen) in southern Arabia.  It was a very beautiful and fertile land but the people were not grateful so The Almighty punished them by sending the flood that destroyed most of the crops and trees.  The few trees left were one or two lote trees and tamarisk.  Tamarisk is a tree which releases salt and therefore ruins the fertility of the surrounding lands.

In V.56:28  Allah states the reward of the believers in Jannah where the thornless lote tree will be one of their rewards.
