Husseyn: Salaam all.  Today is 1st Dhul Hijja 1443 (corresponding to June 30, 2022).  Day of Arafah will be on 9th Dhul Hijja (July 8th) and Eid-al-Adha on 10th Dhul Hijja (July 9th). Fasting on the Day of Arafah is not obligatory, however it's a good day to observe a nafl fast for those healthy enough to do so.  Insh'Allah.

‘By the sky containing constellations. And (by) the promised day. And (by) a witness and one witnessed’. [Qur’an, 85:1-3]

Regarding these verses, the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, ’The promised day is the Day of Resurrection, and the one witnessed is the Day of ’Arafah, and the witness is Friday. The sun does not rise or set upon a day that is more virtuous than it (i.e. the Day of ‘Arafah)…’ [Tirmidhi] - (source Islamq&a)

Please give some details how far this hadith tafsir is correct.

Salam Alaykom.   In V.85:1 The Almighty takes an oath on the constellations of the stars which He created.  In V.85:2 HE takes an oath on the Promised Day, that is, the Day of Judgement.  And in the third Verse He takes an oath on the people who will witness the various events on the Day of Judgement.   It's that clear and simple.    None of those Verses have anything to do with the day of Arafah.  I cannot remember any such matter mentioned in the Noble Quran about the "day of Arafah."

V.85:4 refers to the torment in Hellfire of the disbelievers and wrong doers .. people of the trench or ditch who have been cursed by Allah Almighty with an oath on the stars, on the Day of Judgement and on those who will witness the many events of this Day. 

Some observers have opined that those cursed people burning in the trench or ditch in Hellfire to be the tyrants and persecutors who oppressed and killed innocent people during their time on earth.  But only Allah knows precisely which people HE is referring to.  What is obvious to us is that Allah Almighty is surely referring to the wrong doers.
