Salams dear all.  This is interesting which I want to share.  Here is a painting portraying the aristocratic European society of mid 1800s by the German artist, Henri-Guillaume Schlesinger, well known and respected in Europe and Britain.  The art is captioned light heartedly with a spirit of jest, 'courtly scene with a maid.'  lol 😅   At present if such a painting was released with a similar caption, the West would call it 'sexual harassment' and the author would be booed.

Walaykom As-Salam and well observed Sister Ruhi.   I couldn't agree more.  Even though in present times immorality is far more in the western society than back then, the hypocrisy is also more.  This kind of art could turn its author into a social outcast and a tabooed misogynist.

Nowadays it would be taken as sexual harassment because the western culture commands that it's fine for people to share their beds with their colleagues after work hours.  So there's no need for dramatic courtship as the only gesture of permissibleness.  Back then the minds of the western society took a turn towards the gutters, and now they're fully dipped into the gutters.
