It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

Salam all.   Can you give any information when the fetus gets the rooh or spirit in it?

Majority of the scholars  - Hanafi, Shafii, Hanbali -  say that rooh or spirit is blown into the fetus at the end of four months.  Is this confirmed in the Quran?  or is this an outside the Quran information?

Walaykum As Salaam.   Rooh or spirit being blown in the fetus after 4 months is not Quranic information.  It is Bukhari’s idea for which The Almighty has given no warrant whatsoever.   Let me quote that hadith for your info.

“Each one of you is constituted in the womb of the mother for forty days, and then he becomes a clot of thick blood for a similar period, and then a piece of flesh for a similar period. Then God sends an angel who is ordered to write four things. He is ordered to write down his deeds, his livelihood, the date of his death, and whether he will be blessed or wretched. Then the soul is breathed into him…” (Sahih al-Bukhari: 3036).

From this hadith the hadithists calculate 40 + 40 + 40 = 120 days or 4 months. 

There are a number of Verses in the Noble Quran on the fetus and its development but none of those Verses state the type of things which Bukhari says. 

The following are the Quranic Verses on giving of the Spirit and growth of the fetus:

“Then He made his seed from a draught of despised fluid;  Then He fashioned him and breathed into him of His Spirit; and appointed for you hearing and sight and hearts. little are you grateful.”   32:8-9 As Sajdah.
These Verses give the possible interpretation that the rooh or spirit is perhaps breathed into the fetus quite early when its growth begins in the womb.  But only Allah knows best.

“It is He who forms you in the wombs however He wills. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.”   3:6 Al-Imran.

“Allah knows that which every female bears and that which the wombs absorb and that which they grow. And everything with Him is measured.”  13:8  Ar-Rad.

“And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. Then We placed him as a drop of sperm, firmly fixed. Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood, and of that clot We made an embryo; then We made out of that lump, bones, and clothed the bones with flesh. Then We developed another creation out of it. So blessed is Alah, the best of Creators”   23:12-14 Al-Muminun.


Apart from the above quoted Quranic Verses, there is nothing else in the Noble Quran on when exactly the spirit is breathed or blown into the fetus.   Therefore we cannot give any more information on this subject either.  Only Allah knows the precise details.

I see it.  Thank u.  People all the time talk of rooh blown into fetus after 120 days, i didn't know it was from hadith because i agree i don't trust hadith either.

This is a suitable illustration of the growth of fetus described in Verses 23:12-14 of Al-Muminun.  Breathing or blowing of the spirit can be anywhere during this process of growth.   According to Verses 32:8-9 of As Sajdah it could be during the initial stages between dust to drop (seminal fluid).  But I reiterate, only The Almighty has the complete and precise details.

The comment is that hadith is nonsense, a forgery full on discrepancies.  Just ignore it.

Elaborating my explication on the nonsense of hadith and those who follow it:

Embarrassed jurists have unsuccessfully tried to reconcile this hadith with ultrasound findings.  This reconciliation consists of a second lie to cover up the first one on "120 days" by Bukhari.. 

Jurists claim the explanation comes from “Shaykh-ul-Islam, Ibn Taymiyah.”  But regardless of its source, it is just as inaccurate as Bukhari’s 120 days myth. 

In a nutshell the ulemas' claim is that there are 2 types of life – life of animals and life of plants.  The life of plants is only nourishment and growth without a soul.  The life of animals is guided by their senses and has a soul.  They say heartbeat symbolizes breathing of the soul only in animals, not in plants.  Fetus, until 120 days, according to these fools is categorized with life of plants, not animals. First of all, they won’t clarify why a human fetus needs to be in the category of animal life rather than human life.  They also don’t know that the presence of soul in the fetus or in a newborn does not make their movements voluntary because there is no awareness in them of moving their bodies nor are they able to think or plan at this stage.  Jurists claim that after breathing of soul, movements of fetus automatically become “voluntary.”  Their ignorance forbids them to understand that whether human or animal, all fetal movements are involuntary,

Soul or rooh is breathed into the fetus at a specific stage the details of which are known to Allah alone.  Heartbeat is a physical aspect and it has nothing to do with breathing of the soul.

Well said Heba Hussayn.  I also read the blue link you gave and i find that commentary very illogical, doesn't make sense. When the scholars give commentary on a hadith in attempt to simplify it, that hadith gets more complicated. To support one falsehood they have to speak 10 more falsehoods.
