It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

Marvelous without a doubt.  All praise to YOU ya Allah.

The reciter looks familiar.  I think from the Middle East, right?  His voice and tone have a superbly gentle and melodious chant.

Is this in Toronto ?

Yeah, from Libya .. country of origin.   Yes in a Toronto Mosque run by Guyana Muslims who are of course staunch Hadithists .. not one brief conversation without hadith can they manage.  But this Libyan family that comes here for recitation in Ramadan since last one or two years are .... well I'm sure they too have hadith in their lives .. more focused on the Noble Quran.  I haven't heard them discussing useless ahadith forgeries and falsely attributing to the beloved Prophet (pbuh).

His name is Abdel Fattah Jahedar.  His dad, Ali Salem Jahedar an old reciter (qari) suffered a stroke about two years ago and has been unable to lead prayers ever since. But miraculously his memorization of the Noble Quran has not been affected.  He has five sons, and fortunately all five have memorized the Noble Quran, so they are now leading tarawi prayers in Ramadan.  Three sons and dad are in that video clip.  The dad is standing behind the sons in cream-color cloak.

The name Jahedar sounds very familiar.  From what I know, I think the sons are still vey young, big credit to them for memorization of the Quran.  Since they speak Arabic, I would presume they aren't parroting their recitations like those who only have the ability to read and memorize but cannot understand.  I would assume they understand their recitations.  Though even majority of the Arabic speaking people do require to carefully ponder and reflect to understand the Beautiful Quranic Verses as the contents of the Noble Quran are deep sighted.

I would assume the same.  I cannot be sure that they view the interpretation of the Quran based on hadith (hope not) or focus on it independently as we do.  But in such a case even if they follow the basics of what they recite is perhaps enough to expect.  The real value of hifz is preservation and protection of the Glorious Book.  Alhumdulilah.  Memorization of 6,346 Verses is a talent bestowed by Allah.  If only this institution of hadith forgeries would leave us alone.

Yeah, very good recitation.  I thought he was Syrian until you mentioned otherwise.

Did you notice, he repeated the first line of 3rd Verse, recited it twice.  Any reason?

That is very, very true.  Most  non-Arab Muslims, as I have observed, totally focused on understanding the Noble Quran  though they don’t  know the entire Quran by memory, have a far better understanding of its contents compared to most Arabs and reciters. Furthermore in Arab countries, ‘qari’ means a reciter of the Quran or one who reads and recites the Quran with correct pronunciations who doesn’t necessarily have to know the entire Noble Quran by memory, though that is encouraged for the safe-keeping of the Noble Quran.  However, at the end of the day, for our practical lives, understanding the Quran as correctly as possible is more important than complete memorization with little or no understanding.

.....  If only this institution of hadith forgeries would leave us alone.

Ameen ya Rabb  🤲   very important du'a and Insh'Allah some day this heap of forgery will be trashed, if not in this world then in the next world.

Yes right, I noticed that too later though I didn’t the first time.   I think he did that to bring the rhythm he wanted up to the end.  Perhaps he couldn’t get it the first time, so repeated that portion of the Verse again.

Subhan'Allah, very well recited.  This was last Ramadan, Leilatul Qadr night 1445 in that Mosque in Scarborough, right?

Quite a few other recitations of short Surahs in that last juz in same video too.  But unfortunately Youtube doesn't allow clips longer than 60 seconds and that makes it hard.  60 seconds is too little and even the very short Surahs just fit in.  Slightly longer and you cannot get the entire recitation on the clip.

Yes it's that same Mosque.  You're absolutely right sister Ruhi.  This 60 seconds limit by Youtube is too insufficient.  Otherwise I would have posted more recitations from the same video.

Salam to all.

Here is another wonderful recitation of the first 12 Verses of Surah Al-Ghashiya, Chapter 88 of the Noble Quran.

سُورَة  الغاشية

Chapter 88, Noble Quran
Verses 1 to 12

https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxUyiS5IBEC1vD6Ta6KQEeUohCNkn37IIy?si=jSf7qLiGBOs3yf4Q
Visit this link for recitation clip
Recitation by Ridwan Jahedar.

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ {1}
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ {2}
عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَةٌ {3}
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً {4}
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ {5}
لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِيعٍ {6}
لَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ {7}
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاعِمَةٌ {8}
لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ {9}
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ {10}
لَا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً {11}
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ {12}

Translation:

Al-Ghashiya translates to 'The Overwhelming'

Has there come unto you tidings of the Overwhelming?  88:1
On that day (many) faces will be downcast,  88:2
Toiling, weary,  88:3
Scorched by burning fire,  88:4
Drinking from a boiling spring,   88:5
 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit   88:6
Which does not nourish nor release from hunger.  88:7
In that day other faces will be calm,  88:8
Glad for their effort past,   88:9
In a high Garden   88:10
Where they hear no idle speech,   88:11
Wherein is a gushing spring:  88:12
