November 01, 2023, 03:38:26 pm Zainab_M: Keep praying, praying a lot for Gaza. It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

October 20, 2023, 04:24:44 pm Zainab_M: Right sister Heba.  Gaza hospital bombing has the fingerprints of Israel all over it.  For Israel this is no big crime.  They have done this and much worse many times in the past and intend to do the same and worse many more times in near future.

Salam to all.  With the month of Rajab already started and one week over, 27th of Rajab is Isra anf Mairaj.  Is it a day for optional fasting?

Walaikum as Salam.   There is no hard and fast rule to fast on 27th Rajab.  Optional fast can be observed any day of the year if one wishes.  Secondly, there is NO Quranic confirmation on 27th Rajab as the night of Isra and Mairaj.  Though Allah has certainly confirmed that Isra and Mairaj did take place, the month and day of this event are not mentioned in the Quran.  If you wish you can fast on that day, it's up to you, but it's important to know that there is NO mention of 27th Rajab in the Quran.

Is it ok to take 27th Rajab symbolically to mean Isra and Mairaj and offer a fast on that day?

Yes of course, if you like you can view it that way .. just as we view Leilatul Qadr on 27th Ramadan.  Since Allah told us that the Quran began being revealed in the month of Ramadan but did not tell us which day of Ramadan, so we symbolically take 27th of Ramadan.  About Isra and Meraj, Allah didn't tell us which month nor which day.  It was simply on a certain day of the year. So you can take any day symbolically.  And since Allah didn't tell us the month and day of Isra and Meraj, therefore He did not also mention fasting on this occasion, neither obligatory nor optional.  So, as Sister Heba said, it's entirely up to you whether or not you wish to fast on 27 Rajab.

According to Tanzih ash-Shari'ah, Abu Huraira said that whoever fasts on the 27th of Rajab, Allah will reward them with the fasting of 60 months. This is because the 27th of Rajab is the day when the Prophet Muhammad was given Prophethood by Jibrail.

This implies the as per Abu Huraira fasting on just that one day of 27 Rajab which is not stated in the Quran carries much greater blessings than the fasting on entire month of Ramadan which is obligatory and commanded by God Almighty in the Quran.

Also, what is this story of Prophethood being granted to the Prophet on 27 Rajab.   Prophethood was confirmed  from the time Quran being revealed which was the month of Ramadan.

Why are traditionalists adamant on misguiding people with disinformation?

That's why we say to stay away from traditional nonsense.   It's hard to say whether such distortions are coming from the narrator or compilers or someone else.  Whoever are doing this are viciously deluded and they will have to answer to Allah.
