As Salam Alaikum dear all.   The first 10 days of Dhul Hijja ended yesterday and culminated with the day of sacrifice on the tenth day of this month for those on Hajj and Eid al Adha for those not on Hajj.

We congratulate our sisters and brothers who undertook this remarkable journey.  May Allah accept your efforts, your prayers, your sacrifice and your supplications.

We wish Eid al Adha Mubarak to those who who were home.  May Allah accept your prayers, supplications and charitable acts during this period.

To know the facts on the actual months of Hajj as elucidated in the Noble Quran, take the time to explore our following write-ups

-  The 4 months of Hajj and explanation of Surah Al-Fajr "And ten nights, .."
-  Origin of the word "Ramadan" and the 4 sacred months.

Ameen ya Rabb.

These Saudis are such bitches, this year they prevented nearly 270K people from performing Hajj claiming they had no Hajj permit.

Yes I learned about that too.  I don't understand this madness.  I mean, everyone going there for Hajj do require a valid visa like in all other countries.  Additionally this permit issue is only to delay Hajj applications and harass people so they are unable to perform Hajj.  Nastiest nation I have ever known in my life.

Exactly.  Many applicants who applied for Hajj permits received late confirmations of acceptance of their permit, some didn't receive at all.  As it is, reducing the Hajj season only to first 10 days of Dhul Hijja is wrong.  Over and above that, Saudis purposely make it complicated with unnecessary formalities .. claiming they require permit to avoid "over crowding."  In other words, they are using the system of permits as an excuse to reject as many people as they can without giving valid reasons.

True.  The overcrowding is because the traditionalist idiots have reduced the 120 days window to 10 days, so obviously there will be overcrowding. The untoward incidents that happen during Hajj seasons like people dying in stampedes or tents catching fire during cooking or from heat strokes are because Saudis cannot organize nor manage the event.  Saudi incompetence for this purpose is infamous.

Ya Allah, that sounds upsetting.  So, were these 270K people deported after arriving in the country for Hajj?  In that case, what about the money they spent for the Hajj package?  For sure, the Saudi authorities will never reimburse them financially.

Yeah that's a good question.  I heard briefly they were stopped before entering the country.  But I am not sure.  However even if they were stopped before arriving in Saudi Arabia, it's likely they already paid for their Hajj package to the Hajj companies arranging their travel.  And it's not easy to get a refund from those companies.

I am sure after a while Saudis will relax being so picky with Hajj permits.  After turning away 269K plus people from performing Hajj this year, they complained turnout was low saying "160K less than previous years" (excluding pandemic year of course).  They have also made rules not allowing children for Hajj and giving preference to those performing Hajj for first time.  All these steps will result in many more rejections of future Hajj permits and turnouts will steadily keep dropping in coming years. At some point Saudi govt will realize it's losing significant amount of money compared to times earlier and I'm sure they will again change things.  But as sister Heba pointed out, they should improve their skills to organize the event which I doubt they will do.

Preference to first time pilgrims I can understand .. but disallowing children?  Did they say what's the minimal age of age?

I too heard this year they didn't allow kids below 12.  Quite sure it will become a rule.  In any case I hardly saw anyone taking kids below 12.   It seems to be quite a useless rule.  However as brother said, preference o first time pilgrims is understandable.  There are many who have performed Hajj 7, 8 or 9 times or more along with their families, usually those attached to Islamic institutes everywhere who freely use money from the institutes' coffer.  This does contribute to overcrowding for which the first time pilgrims also suffer.  But Saudis need to improve their manner of handling Hajj permits.  The best way to avoid overcrowding is to set a max number with preference to first timers.  E.g. 1.5m max.  When that number is reached, application processing to stop and remaining permits to be set aside for hulling the following year.  Though none of these rules sound nice as they prevent lot of people going for Hajj.

You're right, very few people ever took kids below 12.  I understand the issues you mentioned.  To know that all problems would be largely avoided without these rules if only they followed the Noble Quran and allowed Hajj through those 4 months.
